College is harder than I expected. Before high school everyone kept telling me how hard Walnut Hills was and how proud of me they were for getting in. Throughout high school I had it easy. I had a lot of easy teachers, easy classes, and it wasn't hard for me to make friends even though they had been there since 7th grade and I entered in 9th grade. I had the easiest time in high school. I loved high school a lot. I had a lot of fun and figured a lot out about myself. Now that I am in college, life sucks. I can't remember to do homework, I have no motivation to do anything, and I never feel like going. I have to find a parking spot everytime I go, but I didn't buy a parking pass. It's so frustrating not being able to think as fast as everyone and I feel like it is really hard to get help. I can't remember what I do in all my classes because my brain just can't hold that much information. I just can't wait until I get this major over with so I can find my dream job that I enjoy going to everyday. I never see my friends from high school anymore which makes me sad. I just find it really hard to transition into college.

So far not so good. I have been struggling with all my tests except for Spanish. I know what I have to do, but do not have a lot of motivation. I do not see a point in showing up to one of my classes because the professor doesn't teach anything, but what is on her slides (that she posts) and what is in the textbook (that I can read on my own). My other class is very intense and a change from high school that I just was not ready for. I think he has required the amount of reading that I had to do in all four years of high school. I am struggling to the max because I can't concentrate in class and I forgot to do homework all the time. I keep having trouble with my nose bleeding constantly which doesn't help. I have had to miss several classes because of it.
To achieve my career goals, I plan to focus my attention to all the internships that could help me in the long run that are possible for me to do. I plan on finding internships for the summer between my sophomore and junior year and the summer in between my junior and senior year. I hope that these will add a great deal of experience to my resume so that I can find the perfect job. I hope to find a job that I really enjoy and look forward to doing everyday for awhile so that I do not job hop. I love helping others and if I could make that my career I would be so glad. I overall want to find a job that helps end human trafficking. I would love to work with victims to hear their stories and make sure they know that there is someone out there that will listen and truly care about them so they can be reunited with society and succeed. I would also love to help get people out of bad situations that they never should've been put in in the first place. I know that there will be challenged being in this field like seeing the horrible situations that kids and adults are stuck in, but I know that when I get them the help they need I will feel the relief of saving lives. This outcome will outweigh any challenge. I can't wait to find the perfect job.
In order to achieve my personal goals, I set a schedule for both my jobs with my availability, made time on days for family, and have made sure I have had time to study for my exams. I made this schedule right before school ended so that when school started I would know if this schedule would work for me pretty soon. When school started I felt really overwhelmed with the amount of time I was working at my jobs. So I knew I had to cut back on my hours. Instead of working Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday, I now only work Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. I found this to be helpful because I get a day of just me time in between my work days. I have prioritized family time on Sundays so that I can be with them every Sunday and catch up. For my exams I make sure to re-read my notes at night that I took earlier each day. I have found this to be helpful because then I am spacing out my studying throughout the days instead of studying everything the night before my exam.
My academic goals are to utilize my resources when I need extra help, earn a higher gpa, and to stay motivated to do my best throughout the school year. In order to achieve my academic goals I plan to use my accommodations when I need them, work hard to get myself to read more, try my hardest to go to all my classes and keep up with my attendance, study harder in college than I did in high, and do what I can to keep up on all schoolwork. My personal goal is to create a balance between my friends/family, school, and my 2 jobs. In order to achieve this goal, I plan to listen to my body to know when I am working too much. I know that I can't study when I am tired and so I can't work all the time. I still need to figure out my work schedule that works best for me and doesn't drain me. I know my family understands that I am busy, but I still like to make time for my family. I plan to schedule times I can see my family throughout the weeks. My career goals are to find a position to work with human trafficking victims and help to put an end to human trafficking. I plan to find the perfect position for me by doing many internships throughout the summers. I also plan to do lots of research on what positions could be potential jobs for me in the future.
